Blog for Friday 6th June 2025
The children have come back to school after the holiday with an excellent enthusiasm for learning ready for their last half term in Year 5.
We started by finishing off our Science topic from last half term looking at the wonderful presentations the children had been working on at home about animal behaviourists. The children looked through the different presentations and made notes about the people they didn't know. It was lovely to look through the presentations - the children had put a lot of time and effort into their work and it is really interesting to learn about people working hard across the globe to protect and promote different animals and their habitats.
We have started our new English book - The Journey about a family fleeing their home due to a war. We have been looking closely at the illustrations and making inferences about what the author is telling us through the pictures.
In Maths, we started our next topic involving coordinates, translation and reflection and learnt the importance of accuracy with these three concepts.
We have continued to practise the different events for Sports Day with the focus this week on the long jump and triple jump. We practised and measured our jumps to see our individual improvement.
